The North West police arrested a total of 482 suspects through various operations in the past seven days between 08 and 15 June 2014 for Contact, Contact related, Property related and other crimes.
The arrests include 4 for murder, 7 for rape, 71 for assault, 28 for burglary residential and business, 20 for shoplifting, 15 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 41 for drug related crimes, 29 for theft, 19 for possession of suspected stolen goods and many other crimes.
Most of the suspects have already appeared in various courts while others are expected to appear on Tuesday, 17 June 2014.
Marikana Police are investigating a case of inquest after a shack caught fire in Nkaneng on Saturday, 14 June 2014 at about 21:00. According to the information the neighbours saw the shack on fire, and it was established later that the victim was allegedly trapped inside. It is not known at this stage what caused the fire and police investigation continues.
