When it comes to cars, it’s not just about what’s under the bonnet – it’s about visual appeal, emotion and the automotive lifestyle, the 2017 Women on Wheels (WOW) reveals.
This is the word from editor Juliet McGuire, who says: “For this year’s issue, I wanted our readers to enjoy a more visual experience. I didn’t want to detract from the informative and entertaining aspects, but cars can be so beautiful that I felt it would be an overall greater experience to include some incredible pictures. The Timeless Beauty piece is one such example. These gorgeous icons make loving cars so easy.”
She continues: “Just because Women on Wheels is not as technical as some other publications it doesn’t mean we don’t believe women aren’t interested in cars, we believe the opposite in fact. More and more women are buying cars and the industry is standing up and taking note.
She adds: “As with the Women on Wheels website, we want this magazine to be the one stop shop for all things motoring related – for women and even for men. I believe we have a unique product that appeals to a wide variety of tastes. Whether you have a passion for cars or just want to know what is going on in the motoring world, we cover it all.”
This year’s issue promises to be a feast for the eyes. “There is a classic car piece featuring timeless beauties and breathtaking road trip pics submitted by WOW readers in the #LoveLocal Canon competition,” she says. “And who doesn’t love a road trip? Making the most of exploring our beautiful country, we’ve put together a list of 15 drives perfect for your adventure bucket list.”
The issue has an Italian twist with Fiat gracing the cover this year. “Not only do we love this little Italian car, but it was great fun following fashion blogger Nadia Jaftha around as she hit the road in the 500C.”
McGuire says that with so many cars being launched every year it can be really hard to keep up, even as a motoring journalist in the know. “I wanted our readers to be aware of what it is they can look forward to this year. This can also be extremely helpful when it comes to buying a new car, just to know whether or not you should wait for the new model or if you want to save a buck or two and instead buy the outgoing one.”
On sale now, the issue is bagged with Marie Claire (R34,90), Cosmopolitan (R34,90) and House & Leisure (R44).
