A 27-year old man was arrested on Friday 13-01-2017 with the assistance of a tracking unit, after he was found in possession of a hijacked vehicle in Marokolong.
It is alleged that on Thursday 2017-01-12, at 06:15, Detectives received information of a suspect that was driving a white Audi A4 that was reported as hijacked.
The vehicle was spotted and the driver was instructed to stop. The suspect claimed that the owner of the vehicle had left the vehicle with him. The suspect attempted to sped off however his actions caused him to crash the vehicle into a pole after which he fled on foot. The suspect was swiftly arrested at his house at Suurman, north of Pretoria.
It is alleged that the suspect had requested from the owner of the vehicle to tranport him from Sunnyside to Wonderboom Airport. The suspect allegedly offered the owner of the vehicle a can of cold drink that was suspected to have been laced with drugs. He asked the owner of the vehicle to stop along the road. When he got back the owner was asleep. The suspect pulled the owner out of the car and left him in the bushes where it is alleged the owner of the vehicle was knocked down by a car, killing him.
A culpable homicide case has been opened at Sinoville Police Station pending the outcome of the post mortem.
The suspect will appear before the Moretele Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 January 2017 facing charges of kidnapping, hijacking and possession of stolen property.
