Does a licensed forklift driver need a valid drivers license besides his forklift license to drive on a public road from factory to factory approximately 300 metres from each other?

Answer:

Yes he needs a code B licence.

The other documents are in terms of the Occupational Safety Act. Reg 99 of the National Road Traffic Regulations refer.

  1. Iam not at all sure that this is correct. The NRTA makes provision for unlicensed vehciles as well as unlicensed vehicle drivers, like forklifts, farm impliments, etc. can cross a public road, if required.

    This is actually more than crossing but driving on it as well.
