A 35 year old man was shot in the chest during a hijacking on Daisy Road in Buffelsdale, Tongaat a short while ago (Wednesday).
At approximately 19:46 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call from a member of public requesting medical assistance for the injured man. Upon arrival it was establised that the victim was seated in his Toyota Tazz when he was approached by two African males. One suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim in the chest.
The injured man managed to get out of his vehicle and sought assistance at a nearby home. The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle. Officers from the South African Police recovered the Toyota Tazz abandoned on an embankment at the entrance of Naninga near the King Shaka International Airport intersection. It is alleged that the suspects lost control of the vehicle on a sharp bend resulting in it crashing into the embankment.
The victim, who is an employee of CMH Umhlanga, was treated for his injury in scene before being transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
