Four suspects aged, 24, 35, and 36 including the gardener, 31, were arrested in connection with a house robbery, where an undisclosed amount of diamonds and jewellery were robbed in Kimberley. The arrest came after the police followed up on information, which linked the gardener with the house robbery. The gardener, who was working at the house where the diamonds and jewellery were robbed, is the accomplice in the house robbery. He was arrested at his house in Galeshewe. All four suspects were arrested on Friday, 18 December 2015 in the early hours of the morning at their places of residence in Galeshewe.
The incident took place at house in Royldene, Kimberley on 11 December 2015. It is alleged that during the robbery, three unknown men wearing balaclavas stormed into the house and held a 61-year-old woman and her 12-year-old grandson hostage and tied them up with a cable ties and locked them in one of the bedrooms inside the house.
The suspects went straight into rooms where the safes containing diamonds and jewellery were kept. They forced opened the safes and made off with an undisclosed amount of diamonds and jewellery.
While they were busy in the act of robbery the husband of a 61-year-old woman came in and caught them re-handed but he was overpowered by the suspects and assaulted. The husband was tied up with cable ties. Furthermore the suspects assaulted the gardener before they could escape the scene.
The Kimberley Cluster Commander, Major General Jean Abrahams commended the community members, for sharing the information which led to the arrest of the house robbery suspects.
The suspects are due to appear the before the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court, on Monday, 21 December 2015 on a charge of house robbery.
