Shortly after 20:00 on Monday, an alert was sent out for a vehicle which had been hijacked in the Morningside area of Durban. It is alleged that four armed men held up the driver of a white Volkswagen Polo, forcing him out of the vehicle, shooting the victim in his leg, before fleeing in an unknown direction.
The vehicle taken was fitted with a tracking device and monitored by Tracker. An alert was sent out to all vehicles in the north Durban area and a signal was found in the Lindelani area. Members of the South African Police Services, Tracker and the Marshall Security Special Operations Team descended on the area and after a brief tracking period, the hijacked motor vehicle was found abandoned. The suspects involved in the incident remain at large.
The vehicle was handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
The victim was attended to on scene by advanced life support paramedics, before being taken through to hospital. He remains in a stable condition.
