Police have launched a manhunt for about 10 suspects who have blasted a G4S armoured vehicle and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
The incident occurred yesterday,05 January 2016, around 9:15, on the Road between Buffelspruit and Kaarlug near Malalane. Information at police disposal reveals that two G4S security personnel were from collecting money in a certain shop at Schoemansdal. While on their way towards Malalane, they were attacked by the heavily armed suspects, whose faces were covered with balaclavas and driving in a silver Mazda5 CX7 and blue Ford Ranger. The suspects opened fire at the guards’ vehicle, blasting its tyres and the driver was forced to halt the vehicle.
The guards were then disarmed, forced out of the vehicle and suddenly their vehicle was blasted twice. The suspects then took cash and fled the scene. Both getaway vehicles, the Mazda CX7 which appears to have been robbed at Edenvale, and the Ford Ranger Club cab, were found abandoned in the sugar cane field.
