Hawks’ Anti-Corruption Unit members have arrested police Constable Mahlatse Phillip Tselana (30) stationed at Groblersbridge Port of Entry and his friend Lesley Malose Molele (31) for corruption on Saturday, 27 August 2016.
The intelligence revealed that Tselana demanded a bribe from Mozambican nationals in June 2016 in order to allow them to cross the border with a car that was stolen from Department of Agriculture in the North West Province.
The victims managed to pay R5000-00 on the spot to the Constable and promised to pay an outstanding R16000-00 so that their car can be released.
Tselane gave the bank account of his friend, Molele, to the victims and the outstanding R16000-00 was deposited into that account. Both suspects have appeared in Phalala Magistrate Court on Monday 29 of August 2016. However, they were remanded in custody until the 06 of September 2016 for formal bail application.
