Western Cape: In our quest to hunt down criminals who threaten the safety of our communities, the SAPS of the Western Cape focussed on theft and hijacking of motor vehicles during the past week. The Vehicle Identification Section (VIS) and their colleagues in the Provincial Hijacking Task Team conducted operations on Friday 2017-03-31, concentrating on the Mitchell’s Plain and Nyanga Clusters. Wanted suspects, as well as stolen and hijacked vehicles were traced.

The operations yielded successful results when two vehicles that were reported as hijacked in Philippi East and Nyanga during March 2017 were recovered. Eleven suspects, five of whom were wanted for theft of motor vehicles and six wanted on cases of house robbery, armed robbery and carjacking were arrested. The suspects, aged between 29 and 35 years will appear in various courts in the province, once charged.

These efforts contribute to ensuring a safer Easter period for the residents of Cape Town and its visitors. #OpPaseka #Back2Basics#CrimeMustFall
