On Sunday afternoon 02 July 2017, Netcare 911 paramedics responded to reports of an attempted hijacking in QwaQwa.
Reports from the scene indicate that a 50 year old male was driving when his car broke down. Shortly afterwards some people appeared and offered to help him. More suddenly appeared and overpowered the man and robbed him.
It was alleged that when they could not steal the car they severely beat and kicked the man. Paramedics arrived to find that the man was in a serious condition and had sustained multiple injuries and fractures. He was attended to by an Advanced Life Support paramedic and medication was administered in an attempt to control the pain from his multiple injuries.
He was stabilised at the scene before being transported to a hospital in Harrismith for further assessment and care.
