At around 14:53 on Thursday, Marshall Security were alerted to a theft out of motor vehicle which had occurred in Swapo Road in the Broadway area of Durban North.
Eyewitnesses reported that two men remote jammed an Isuzu bakkie and whilst the owner of the vehicle was busy in a nearby store, opened the vehicle and removed various items including what appeared to be a laptop computer bag.
The thieves then fled in an awaiting getaway vehicle, a silver Volkswagen Polo, in the direction of the M4 highway.
A description of the vehicle and its registration was circulated to all Marshall Security and SAPS vehicles in the area. A Marshall Security vehicle along with members of the SAPS proceeded onto the M4 Ruth First Highway towards town in search of the suspects.
A sighting was made matching the vehicle in the area of Sylvester Ntuli Road and a high speed chase ensued with the suspects attempting to evade arrest. A joint effort between Marshall Security and the South African Police Services, saw the vehicle brought to a stop on Hunter Street in the Durban CBD.
The two occupants were found in possession of a wallet, the laptop bag containing various work documents and two boxes confirmed to be belonging to the complainant.
The suspects and their vehicle were remanded into the custody of the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
After further investigation it was revealed that one of the suspects is currently out on bail from previous offenses.
