Shortly after 11am on Sunday, Marshall Security were alerted to a house robbery which had occurred at a residence in Avoca Road, in the suburb of Avoca, north of Durban.
Armed reaction officers were immediately dispatched and on further investigation it was ascertained that four suspects, two armed with pistols, arrived in an unknown vehicle and stormed the home, holding up the home owners and ransacking the house, making off with flat screen televisions and various electronic equipment, before fleeing the scene in the owners’ vehicle, a Mercedes Benz, C200 fitted with a tracking device.
A description of the vehicle was immediately distributed to all available vehicles in the area and the Marshall Security Special Operations Team were called into assist.
A tracking signal was found in Morningside and our SOT members descended on the area.
An extensive search was conducted, resulting in the vehicle being recovered abandoned in Poplar Road, approximately fifteen minutes after being reported stolen. The suspects remain at large.
The vehicle and scene have been handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
