Alexander Forbes Insurance will honour vehicle claims irrespective of e-toll licencing decisons

Following recent announcements regarding e-tolls and the various debates surrounding insurance cover that those South Africans with outstanding e-toll accounts will not be able to renew their vehicle licence disc, questions arise on whether or not your motor insurer will settle a claim based on the status of your vehicle licence disc.

Alexander Forbes Insurance (AFI) position on the matter is that your vehicle cover will not be prejudiced by failure to renew your licence disc because e-toll accounts have not been paid.

According to AFI MD, Gari Dombo “There is an exclusion for the vehicle being driven in an un-roadworthy condition, but we would only reject a claim if the un-roadworthy condition caused or contributed to the accident.”

Dombo said that Alexander Forbes Insurance will not rely on the absence of a roadworthy certificate or a failure to renew the vehicle’s licence to avoid settling a claim.
