Allandale Bridge Demolition

by admin

The demolition of the 40-year-old Allandale Interchange bridge across the N1 Ben Schoeman freeway took place over the weekend of the 6-8th of November.

I received these images of the demolition of the bridge. I would have thought explosives would have been used to demolish the bridge, but as can be seen from the photos it looks more like a scene from a science fiction movie.

A gang of mechanical jack hammers made short work of the bridge … if anyone out there knows how long it took please let us know!

Claiming for damages caused by Road Constuction

Are you aware that you may have a legitimate claim against the road authorities for damages caused in areas of road construction? It was confirmed in a story on Pretoria News that motorists whose vehicles have been damaged as a result of the roadwork on Gauteng’s freeways are able to claim through the contractor’s insurance company.

The SA National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) confirms that claims are processed like any other insurance claim if it could be proved that the damage occurred as a result of work on the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project.

If your car has been damaged due to construction work, maybe you should rather claim from the contractor rather than losing your car insurance no-claims bonus.
