Two brothers aged 27 and 22 were arrested after they were found in possession of two stolen vehicles at their home in Buffelsdraai – Verulam today (Monday).
At approximately 11:57 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were alerted by Tracker that a blue Toyota Corolla Quest that was stolen in Gauteng last night was emitting signals in Redcliffe. Reaction Officers converged on the area and recovered the vehicle under a shelter on a property being used to panel beat vehicles. Two Mozambican nationals who were on the property were placed under arrest.
The Verulam SAPS/RUSA Rapid Response Unit arrived on scene and conducted checks on several vehicles on the property. Upon examination of an Isuzu bakkie the engine number and the vehicle identification number were found to be removed. The engine number on the licence disk confirmed that the vehicle was sought by the Umlazi SAPS for a case registered in April this year. Upon searching the home rented by the brothers several number plates, licence disks and vehicle spares were recovered.
The brothers were placed under arrest and have been detained at the Verulam SAPS.
