General Motors South Africa (GMSA) sold 5 149 vehicles in September 2015, coming in at fourth position on the National Automobile Association Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) sales rankings.
Brian Olson, GMSA Vice President for Vehicle Sales Service and Marketing, said “Overall industry dealer sales were surprisingly strong, due to high levels of support to stimulate the market. This is an unsustainable sales rate and we still see the market finishing 2015 around 600 000 units, down 6% on 2014 sales.
Despite declining industry sales, Chevrolet’s September performance proved to be the best since October last year. The locally assembled Chevrolet Utility and Spark, along with the recently launched Cruze, were the top sellers.
Meanwhile Opel continued to buck the industry trend with sales up more than 60% versus the same time last year. “We continue our Opel product onslaught next month with the launch of the cool, new ADAM Rocks. This will be the fifth Opel product launch this year alone,” said Olson.
