In a concerted effort to fight trio crimes and the mushrooming of incidents of possession of illegal firearms and drugs are contributing more to violent crimes in this Province, the ongoing joint intelligence driven operation composed of various police units that was up and running until early this morning, has yielded successful results, especially in the crime infested areas.
In the Groblersdal Cluster, the operation was conducted at Toitskraal area near Mall-Siyabuswa which was focusing on carjackings, business robberies and armed robberies where a 27 year old man was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles.
During this operation, the following were recovered :
* Toyota Fortuner which was reported stolen in Sinnoville in the Gauteng Province.
* Mazda BT50 which was reported stolen in Witbank in the Mpumalanga Province.
* Toyota RunX
* Firearms & various assorted rounds of ammunition.
Meanwhile in the Giyani Cluster, 04 suspects aged between 23 and 31 were arrested and the following were recovered :
* Three(03) firearms, three 9mm magazines, thirteen(13) 9mm live ammunition.
* Two (02) cellphones.
In the Thohoyandou Cluster, four (04) suspects were arrested and the following were recovered:
* Toyota Tazz which was hijacked in Botlokwa.
* Firearms & various assorted rounds f ammunition.
Meanwhile at Ga-Masemola village near Lebowakgomo, three (03) suspects aged between 23 and 35 were arrested for house robbery and possession of suspected stolen properties. Various incriminating exhibits were seized including balaclavas and hand gloves.
In Seshego, Lebowakgomo, Makhado, Thohoyandou, Bela Bela, Lephalale, Polokwane, Maake, Makhado, Musina, Orichstad, Mankweng, Marble Hall, Modimolle Tzaneen, Mahwelereng and Hoedspruit, eighty four (84) suspects aged between 21 and 54 were nabbed for various offences ranging from carjacking, business robberries and possession of drugs and firearms.
During these arrests ,the following were recovered :
*Drugs including Dagga and Nyaope
*Firearms and various assorted rounds of ammunition including various incriminating items such as balaclavas and knives.
*Stolen vehicle, Toyota Tazz.
