Question:
Good morning I am hoping you can help answer a discussion that crops up from time to time. How far from a sign reflecting a speed limit is the actual limit enforceable? Is it at the sign itself or are there allowances of a prescribed distance either side of the sign?
Answer:
It actually applies from the sign but there is a 300m limit beyond the sign that the prosecuting authority uses to allow people to slow down. In special circumstances i.e. off-ramps they sometimes waiver the rule for law enforcement.
