A 33-year-old Zimbabwean national was shot during a hijacking in an area popularly known as Chubbies Garage in Verulam – KZN this afternoon (Friday).
Residents contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 19:58 requesting assistance for the injured male. On arrival, it was established that the victim was parked outside a fast food restaurant waiting for a friend when two unknown men approached his grey Ford Figo with an NP 17396 registration. The suspects opened the driver’s door and forced him out of the vehicle. They shot him once in his abdomen and once on his right thigh before they sped off.
The victim was treated on scene before being transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
