The attached photo is of a vehicle that was involved in a frightening road rage incident I experienced on today’s date at approx 3.45 pm, as follows :
The driver of the silver Mercedes cut me off at the robot on cnr Stephen Dlamini Rd and St Thomas Rd. At the next intersection the driver cut in front of a vehicle at the robot. I was traveling behind him.
A few hundred meters along the road, there was a large truck was stationary while the truck driver was straightening up to turn into a driveway, causing an obstruction to traffic, the driver of the silver Mercedes had sufficient warning to stop until the road was clear. Instead he proceeded to overtake the truck on a solid white line, with an oncoming vehicle traveling in close proximity on the opposite side of the road.
I flashed my lights at the driver of the Mercedes at the next robot. Thereafter he slammed on his brakes in front of me when we both turned right down Springfield road. He drove alongside me and opened his window and shouted and waved obscene hand signals at me. I continued driving down Springfield Rd, the driver of the Mercedes followed me and overtook me and slammed his brakes on, this was when my passenger took the attached photo of his car, this continued all the way down the road, with him slowing down and waiting for me to pass, when he swerved in front of me, then slamming on his brakes, until I stopped my car with the intention of making a U turn and drive back up Springfield road to escape him – I was terrified he would cause an accident or pull out a gun. My passenger shouted for me to be careful, and I told him to phone the police. Every time I turned this man would follow me. When I did a U turn he made a U turn and followed me. Fortunately the robot was red, and a man in a company bakkie with his window down was stopped at the robot, the Mercedes came up behind me, I told the man in the bakkie I had a maniac with road rage behind men to which he said I must go straight over the robot and he will drive behind me – at that point the driver of the Mercedes realized I had a witness and he turned left into Musgrave Rd when the robot changed and drove away.
When he had stopped next to me, I had noticed his eyes were blood shot and he was extremely aggressive.
This character needs to be investigated, it wouldn’t surprise me if he has a DUI record, or been up on traffic offenses, and needs to be reported before he causes a fatal accident – he clearly has road rage problems.
