We can do much to prevent car insurance claims – and most of us are! We drive with caution, avoid unnecessary driving and install state of the art security devices. Those more cautious also plan ahead for safe parking at house and home and are alert to the modus operandi of criminals in the area.
Unfortunately there are always some environmental disasters we can do little about. There is nothing more dehabilitiating than sitting in traffic during a hail storm. Hail storms often arrive without clear warning and we are left stranded with nowhere to hide. Not only does the hail present a danger – but also vehicles slipping and sliding on the wet road surface and some vehicle owners who drive irresponsibly in an effort to get away from the hail.
I have had my 1986 Ford Bantam Bakkie damaged beyong reasonable repair during the 1999/2000 hail storms in Bloemfontein. The vehicle was not comprehensively insured and it would have cost me too much to repair all the dents.
During last week a hail storm struck Bloemfontein – and the next day one of the direct insurers received 120 claims for hail damage alone!
Not having your car insured is similar to a game of roulette – betting that a specific number [ or rather a few numbers!] will never come up! This is simply not worth the risk!
Rather request a car insurance quote – you might still enjoy your day when the first dark clouds appear in the sky….
