Hijacked Delivery Truck Recovered in Upper Tongaat in KZN

A team Reaction Officers recovered a hijacked truck that was taken by armed suspects during a bread delivery in Upper Tongaat – KZN this afternoon (Saturday 2020/09/05) at approx 17:00.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was informed by vehicle tracking company Tracker of the hijacking after the two occupants of the vehicle were found locked into the rear of the delivery vehicle by a passerby at approx 17:34. The freed employees then walked to a main road and called for assistance.
Reaction Officers were sent to the location (picture 5) and found the vehicle on a dirt road near the R614. The vehicle key was found broken in the ignition and a bullet hole was found on the windscreen. The safe fixed inside cab was also damaged.
According to the driver & assistant, they were accosted by two (2) armed men during a delivery. The suspects pointed firearms at their heads and threatened to shoot them. They were then robbed of cash and locked into the rear of the truck. They heard gunshots when the vehicle came to a standstill. A light motor vehicle was seen picking up the suspects a few minutes later.
No details of the getaway vehicle were immediately available.
