Hijacked Vehicle Recovered in Verulam

A Hyundai Accent that was hijacked by 2 armed suspects in Waterloo – Verulam was recovered by members of Reaction Unit South last night (Thursday).

Reaction Officer Fenton Govender was on patrol on Ireland Street in Verulam when he was flagged down by a member of public requesting assistance after his employee had been hijacked while driving his vehicle. The man claimed that two armed suspects had approached his employee and robbed him of R950 in cash and fled with the vehicle.

The victim proceeded to a nearby home where he sought assistance and called his employer who activated the vehicle’s tracking device. The RUSA Officer was provided with a location in Waterloo where the vehicle was suspected of being.

The Officer proceeded to the area and recovered the vehicle abandoned on the roadside on Frog Road. The victim was not injured.

A search for the suspects was conducted however no arrests were made.
