How does the Zimbabwean driver license compare to the PRDP?

Question:

If a Zimbabwean citizen with a work permit in SA has an international driver’s license (Code 14) – does he have to have a PDP or does the international license cover that?

Answer:

An IDP is not a PRDP but just an international translation of a licence. Zimbabwe has a document referred to as a defence driving certificate that serves a similar purpose to a PRDP. It does however not serve as a dangerous goods permit as additional training is required for that.
