How much of your vehicle expenses go towards fuel? Interesting infographic on petrol prices in SA

The Arrive Alive website received an interesting email from DirectAxis relating to transportation costs and fuel. We would like to quote:

“We noticed that you’ve been writing about the petrol price hike and thought you might be interested in the following infographic that illustrates the various elements that contribute towards the cost of a litre (as of the latest change, tax accounts for R3.69 of the R13.23 inland price). The infographic also shows that while our petrol is relatively inexpensive in relation to other countries, our low income levels mean that a litre of petrol costs the equivalent of 6.5% of the average South African’s daily wage.”
