A 66-year-old man was left seriously injured this afternoon after he was shot outside of his residence in Westonaria.
ER24 paramedics, along with SAPS and Security forces, arrived on the scene and found the man seated in his driveway with his wife and some neighbours.
On assessment, paramedics found that the man had sustained two gunshot wounds to his abdomen, leaving him in a serious condition.
Paramedics treated the man and provided him with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the man was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a private hospital in Johannesburg.
It is understood that two gunmen had approached the man as he pulled into his driveway. A scuffle apparently ensued and the patient was shot.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
