DURBAN – 03 OCTOBER 2011 AT 15H00
A motorcyclist is in a serious condition after he collided with a light motor vehicle on South Ridge Road and King George in Glenwood just outside Durban this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the motorcyclist believed to be in his early 30’s lying in the middle of the road. The motor bike was found wedged into the front of the car which had extensive damage. The patient was assessed and found that he had suffered multiple long and short bone fractures and possible neck and back injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention had to be performed on the patient before he could be stabilised further. the patient had to be placed on a specialised board before he was taken to a nearby hospital in a serious but stable condition.
It is believed that the motorcyclist was coming down South Ridge Road and had just past King George, when he lost control of the bike to possible wet weather conditions of the road and collided with the car that was coming from the other direction. With the impact he was catapulted in to the air and landed with a force on to the road. The local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
