PORT ELIZABETH – Creating hope and positivity in unemployed youth is a step closer to self-enrichment and confidence. The more one involves active participation and partnership with young people, the more one can increase the public value to a community.
Mount Road Cluster Community Policing Forum in partnership with an NGO’s, SSS Advanced Driving School and the Rescue Campaign Youth Initiative 2020 Programme identified the need to train unemployed young people in advanced driving skills so that they can be adequately equipped in finding jobs in various fields either in the private or public sector. The aim of the NGO’s and CPF is to train at least 1000 young people for the year 2020. The potential candidate for this programme must be in possession of a code 8 driver’s licence to undergo the advanced course. These courses are offered free of charge to qualifying candidates. It is expected that by the beginning of March 2020, the school intends to have completed 100 successful trainees.
This approach creates a win-win situation for both the unemployed youth and the community at large. The youth gain skills and experience that almost guarantees them future employment while the community benefits with honest, hardworking law-abiding citizens who are able to lift their income above the poverty level. NGO’s such as these play an important role in giving back to the communities in building a better future for all.
Well done to SSS Advance Driving School, Rescue Campaign Youth Initiative 2020 Programme and the Mount Road Cluster CPF for driving this initiative and caring for the future of our youth.
