Nissan Group of Africa Supports the fight against COVID-19

by jonckie@arrivealive.co.za

We at Nissan Group of Africa, salute the South African hero’s at the front line, risking their lives to keep us safe and providing every citizen out there with health care and essential services during this pandemic.

To support these true heroes, Nissan SA has partnered with the Department of Health’s (DoH) COVID-19 screening programme and the Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (Wits RHI). We made available 12 Nissan and Datsun vehicles to WITS RHI employees who are conducting COVID-19 screening in the communities in the northern areas of the Gauteng province.

“Nissan Group of Africa is committed to President Ramaphosa’s call to fight this disease. We adopted the DoH project in Gauteng North as this is where most of our employees and their families reside, and we believe that a comprehensive screening programme is key in combating this disease and to offer support to fellow residents in Gauteng north,” says Shinkichi Izumi, Managing Director of Nissan Group of Africa.

The programme kicked off this week and will run until early May, or for as long as the national government deems necessary. The vehicles are branded in DoH, Nissan or Datsun and Wits RHI livery to make them clearly identifiable to the public and to encourage residents to be screened and obtain the necessary information and treatment if needed.

From the Nissan family, we offer our sincere gratitude to all essential workers for their unwavering commitment to curb the spread of the pandemic.

Until we meet again, South Africa. #StayHome.StaySafe.
