At least six shots were fired during a house robbery and attempted hijacking on Hilltop Drive in Tea Estate, Inanda on Thursday afternoon.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the property at approximately 18:23 after receiving several calls from residents reporting shots being fired. On arrival, it was established that five armed suspects entered the yard as one of the victim’s drove in with his Nissan Livina.
In an attempt to evade the robbers the driver accelerated and drove into a ditch next to the home. Two suspects accosted the driver while three of their accomplices entered the residence and held up the family.
The driver was assaulted and robbed of his cellphone, cash and keys. The suspects in the home demanded valuables but fled empty-handed firing shots as they made their getaway.
A search was conducted however no arrests were made.
