Question:

I and a friend was driving on the N2 trough Riversdal. A 60 km sign was approached and 270 metres afterwards a 80 km traffic sign, Between these signs a speed camera flashed. My friend was at that stage driving app 75 km an hour. What I want to know is it legal to place a camera between the 60 and 80 km road signs. Regards
Answer:

The Prosecuting Guidelines for Speed Measuring Equipment and

Traffic Light Violation Monitoring Equipment is a guideline document that is used for speed prosecutions.

Paragraph

    1. Speed Zone Requirements – No prosecution may be instituted where
  • the speed measurement was taken within 300 meters of the commencement of the speed limit zone.

I do not know what the distances are but this is the only provision that would prevent prosecution and it is not a law but simply a guideline.
