A man has been arrested following a high speed chase through Durban North on Tuesday afternoon.
A Toyota RAV 4 vehicle was taken in a house robbery in the Morningside area on Monday night. The vehicle in question was fitted with a tracking device and monitored by Tracker.
At approximately 13h00 a positive identification of the vehicle was made in the area of the Ilala Ridge housing estate, the suspect left the estate in the vehicle with members of Tracker, the South African Police and Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team, hot on his tail.
A high speed chase ensued with the stolen vehicle driving at high speed down Umhlanga Rocks Drive, with little regard for other motorists. All available vehicles in the area were called into assist, as well as the South African Police Services Air Wing, resulting in the vehicle being brought to a halt on Blackburn Road near the intersection of Mornington Road.
The suspect, a male believed to be in his forties was arrested on site and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
