Struggling with the Learners Test? You might like to read this…

by jonckie@arrivealive.co.za

Question:

N… here, I’ve took the new learners test twice and failed. I have a problem with the rules and me afraid I will fail again on Monday if I don’t get the new rules and study them. I need help asap, is there a way that you can help me?

Answer:

I’m not sure what N… means by the ‘new rules’. There are no ‘new rules’ other than a one or two items that changed quite a while ago and which are included in all the latest editions of the best manuals available.

It sounds as if it was the computerised test that was failed? If so, then the test may have included questions that are not rules of the road, but relate instead to specifications of motor vehicles and motorcycles. These questions should NOT be in the tests, and representations have been made to the Department of Transport and other authorities to stop this illegal practice.

In the meantime, if it is a computerised test, then I have two suggestions:

  1. Make a booking at a testing station that does not use the computerised testing system, but the traditional paper and pencil test.

    OR

  2. Visit this Web page and get some help for the ‘illegal’ questions that we’ve heard complaints about:

I hope N… has success when taking the test again.

All the best,

Gavin
