Four male suspects between the ages of 30 and 37 were arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit in possession of a stolen motor vehicle and fraud, at Green Village, Doornkop, Soweto.
On Sunday, 05 March 2023, whilst conducting crime prevention patrols along Impala Road in Green Village, officers spotted a suspicious motor vehicle, a red Toyota Etios with four male occupants.
The officers stopped the vehicle for a routine stop and search. They inspected the license disc of the vehicle and noticed that the disc displayed was fraudulent. Whilst proceeding with the inspection, the officers discovered that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) was filed off.
A further inquiry into the vehicle was conducted using the data dots and it revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen as per the Benoni SAPS case.
