Authorities stumbled upon a suspected chop shop following the recovery of a wrecked Toyota Etios that was stolen from Sea View in Durban
Tracker circulated information about the stolen vehicle that was emitting signals in the Inanda area. Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the South African Police Service, Metro Police, and Tracker Operations Team began honing in on the signal.
Officers from the Metro Police Trio Crime Unit recovered the vehicle on a property. It was lying on its side and appeared as if it had been pushed down an embankment from a neighboring property. Officers proceeded to the residence and found the front door open but the home was vacant.
A search of the yard revealed a Nissan 1400 bakkie, a Toyota Corolla, and Isuzu bakkie. All three vehicles were stripped and were suspected of being stolen. The property is believed to be used as a chop shop.
Further investigation into the recovery is currently underway.
