Vigilance by the members from the Western Cape K9 Unit resulted to the discovery of a hijacked vehicle and arrest of the suspects. Yesterday (2019-04-13) the members were patrolling in the Manenberg area when they saw a suspicious Toyota Etios.
The driver of the vehicle sped off when he saw the police vehicle, a high-speed chase ensued. Police stopped the vehicle and upon investigation, it was established that the vehicle had been hijacked in the morning. According to information the driver who operates as a metred taxi driver was hijacked while dropping off a client in Vanguard Estate.
Two suspects aged 20 and 23 from Bonteheuwel were arrested and once they are charged are expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court
