Vehicle recovered following a high-speed chase and shootout.

The vehicle in question a white Hyundai Accent, had been spotted in the Umdloti area earlier with false registration plates. The driver of the vehicle collided with a member of the public and fled in an unknown direction.

Information was circulated to all services in the greater Durban area to be on the lookout. Shortly after 17:00, a house robbery was reported in Bhamo Avenue in the Effinhgam area. The Hyundai i20 was spotted by the Marshall Security Special Operations Team, fleeing up Queen Nandi Drive towards Avoca Hills and a highspeed chase ensued.

The suspects eventually abandoned the vehilce on Whinstone Grove in Avoca Hills. Four suspects alighted from the vehicle and opened fire on our officers, fleeing on foot into nearby dense bushes.

With the assistance of the SAPS K9 unit, an extensive search of the area was conducted, however the suspets managed to evade arrest.

Two firearms, live ammunition, house breaking impliments and property confirmed to have been stolen from the premises in Bhamo Avenue, were all recovered in the vehicle.

The scene was secured and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
