The 1 SA Tank Regiment recovered another vehicle which was meant for the Northern countries, North of the Limpopo River by vehicle smugglers/thieves.
1 SA Tank Regiment was conducting an Observation and Listening Post operations near Pump Station on the Republic of South Africa/Zimbabwe border when they spotted vehicle lights moving towards the Limpopo River.
As soon as the suspected vehicle moved into the River bed, our soldiers approached it, which made the occupants escape and run in the direction of Zimbabwe. The uniformed members managed to confiscate the Toyota Starlet, which was confirmed to have been stolen at Olievenhoutbosch in November 2022.
The value of the vehicle is estimated to be worth R233 597-00. The vehicle was handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigations.
