What does the law say about alcohol consumption by passengers?

I would like clarification on the rule in South Africa regarding the consumtion of alcohol by a passenger in a vehicle and also the transport of alcohol in that vehicle. Could you advise what the Rules of the Road say about this?

Answer:

At present this is not covered in Road Traffic legislation. Persons may be charged for drinking in public in terms of local by-laws.
