What does the law say about visibility through the back window of a motor vehicle?

did_you_know782Question:

I branded a clients vehicle which included a one way (contravision) print on the back window, Toyota Tazz.

This is common practice and does not obscure the drivers vision. on his way to George he was stopped in a road block where one of the officers promptly informed him that the print was illegal.

He then showed her that is does not impair his vision to she answered it is illegal.

I would like to enquire what the law states about this matter so that i can inform my clients and they can make an informed choice.

Answer:

It is illegal. Reg 202(3) does not allow it.

The back window may only have one eight of the window covered
