What is the speed limit in a parking area/ parking lot?

Question:

I have searched and I can’t find any law/common law or regulation around the speed limit in and around a parking area/lot.

I know that drivers need to drive prudently and not be neglegent…but my question is what is a “safe” travelling speed for such an area? Are there any regulations to substantiate this speed? (as I am certain it cannot be 60km/h).

Answer:

There is no general speed limit for parking areas, school zones, etc in South Africa. If there is a pedestrian area with the necessary road traffic signs the limit is 15km/h
