What licence is required for a person do drive a normal agricultural tractor on a public road?

Question:

What minimum license is required for a person do drive a normal agricultural tractor on a public road? When I refer to public road, I mean on the plot where our business is run from, as well as the dirt road surrounding the area.

The people will not be driving around on provincial roads (tar roads).

The major issue is around the safety of the driver, employees moving around the yard and road and when the person goes out, insurance for other vehicles utilising the same road.

People claim that a code B range is sufficient (old code 8).

Please advise.

Answer:

Yes, a code B is sufficient regardless of the size of the tractor. Due to the tractor being a slow speed vehicle a code B is sufficient according to reg 99 of the Regulations.

All the roads you describe are public roads and the driver must have a licence.
