Question:
I obtained my code B driving licence five years ago with an automatic transmission restriction. According to road safety bodies and law-enforcement, this restricts me to automatic code B vehicles. I need to obtain a manual code B licence for work purposes, but it clearly states that you may NOT obtain a learners licence if you already have a licence that authorises the driving of the same vehicle class.
Please advise.
Answer:
That will not apply to you as the learner’s licence will allow you to drive a manual vehicle as well while you are accompanied by a driver with a manual code B licence (your current licence does not allow for a manual vehicle so you will not obtain a licence that authorises driving with the same vehicle type) . You must obtain the code 2 learner’s licence before you will be allowed to test for a code B manual.
