Are you aware of the impact drunk driving may have on your car insurance?  Much has been written on this topic, most notably on this blog in a post titled “Will my car insurance pay if I drive drunk?”

What is often not discussed is the time it may take before the Car Insurance company makes a decision whether to pay or not!

We would like to illustrate this with reference to a request received for assistance :

Question:

“Good morning, I would like to know how can a person get the blood results from an accident, as the police say it can take from 6 months to a year, and the insurance are not paying my vehicle out due to this. I have to rely on other people to take me to work, and it is really a big problem for me. Do you perhaps know how a person can get the results quicker. Have a nice day”

Answer:

We referred this to our colleagues in the Insurance industry and received the following response:

Response:

” We are unaware of any process where the results can be expedited. Different companies will handle this differently.  Generally though an insurance company can withhold paying the claim whilst awaiting the outcome of the blood results.”
