Strong Domestic Sales for Ranger, Plant Upgrades Impact Exports

“Industry sales didn’t start off well in January 2018, with the passenger and light commercial sectors both registering year-on-year declines. However, the strengthening of the Rand will help boost the local economy in the months ahead, and should mitigate against new vehicle price inflation this year, which is great news for consumers. Although our export volumes were down due to the assembly plant upgrades that are currently underway in Silverton, local sales of the Ranger remained strong.”
