Police in Kwa-Thema arrested four suspects for hijacking a courier service vehicle and recovered the stolen goods yesterday. A firearm, 9mm pistol, was also seized during the arrest. The suspects are due to appear at the Kwa-Thema Magistrate Court within 48 hours.
It is alleged that four suspects approached the RTT courier service vehicle at a stop sign and pointed a firearm at the driver and his passenger. The victims were forced out of the vehicle and the suspects drove away with the vehicle. The suspects took a firearm from the passenger who was a security guard. Police followed up information and arrested the suspects whilst they were off-loading goods at a nearby BP garage in KwaThema.
Police are still investigating a possibility that the suspects may be linked to other hijacking cases.
