A 45 year old man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after his Toyota Corolla collided into the back of a BMW on Phoenix Highway – Phoenix a short while ago.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene after receiving several calls from passing motorists reporting the collision. Upon arrival the 51 year old driver of the BMW was found to have sustained moderate injuries. She was treated on scene by paramedics before being transported to hospital.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla was believed to be heavily intoxicated at the time of the accident. He reeked of alcohol, was unstable on his feet and his speech was slurred. The man was placed under arrest by Metro Police Officers who were called out to the scene.
A 3 year old child who was an occupant in the BMW was not injured.
