Can I renew my driving licence from abroad?

Question:

I’m currently working in Zimbabwe. My drivers’ licence will expire 0n 11/12/2107. I cannot return to SA before that time due to TAX reasons. How can I proceed to renew it?

Answer:

The South African drivers licence can only be renewed in South Africa personally. You must come back home for the eye test and the fingerprints to be conducted

After the expiry date, there are no penalty fees that can be calculated to late renewals
