Residents are warned to be alert and safeguard themselves as the winter season approaches and related crimes are on the increase.
Alpha Alarms Response Unit responded to the Samsunder Road premises in Isipingo, where it was discovered that a suspect had broken the side window of a vehicle parked on the premises. However, an alert tenant called out and disturbed the suspect who fled empty-handed over the fence. The Alpha Response Unit searched the surrounding area for any signs of the suspect but no arrest was made.
The homeowner said that it was the third vehicle break-in at his premises in two months.
The Alpha Response Team has been responding to numerous call-outs where suspects have been yard hopping, interfering with gate motors, tampering with vehicles.
Alpha urges residents to ensure that their alarm systems are in proper working order and all necessary measures are in place to ensure the security of their family most importantly and their property thereafter.
Secure doors and windows and activate alarm system at night and before you leave your premises. Ensure adequate lighting on your property.
Shrubbery must be trimmed and house numbers clearly visible to police and security respondents.
Consider installing beams on your property as an early warning intruder detection deterrent.
